This Aogami Blue steel #2 is made with pure sand iron at the famous Yasugi plant in Shimane prefecture, Japan. This benefits you with a blade that is the best for extreme sharpness and edge-retention.
The steel is forged with the skillful technique named "Teuchi" which means the pattern is hand beaten onto the blade. The beautiful pattern and design is called "Kurouchi" which is the rustic and scaly design on top of the blade. This is formed when forging the steel and allows the carbon steel to be less reactive and adds a unique and complex look.
Handcrafted in Ono, Hyogo, Japan. This region is one of last of Japan where craftsman are still making knives with traditional knife making skills and practices. Each craftsman works collaboratively to ensure the tradition is kept alive and passed onto the next generation. We are proud to support this community.
This knife is right handed. Please contact us to make a personalised order for a blade to suit left hands.
Knife care: Please wash and dry the knife straight after use and never put it in dishwasher. Heating the blades will cause stretching and is detrimental to the quality. Please store in a dry and cool spot. We can sharpen your knife whenever needed :)
